Job Description

Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Regional Director of Arab States and overall guidance of the Women s Economic Empowerment Specialist (matrix-manager) the consultant is expected toProvide technical inputs, support programme development and implementation through quality assurance and thematic input in the area of migration and trafficking in the Arab States and support cross-regional initiatives Prepare, review and provide inputs to project documents, research papers, policy briefs as related to gender and migration and gender and counter-human trafficking; Foster cross-regional partnerships and follow-through potential cross-regional initiatives in the area of gender and migration as they pertain to the Arab States, Asia and the Pacific and the African continent; Support programme implementation in the area of gender and migration by providing timely and effective support to country offices; Lead knowledge generation and knowledge management efforts in the area of gender, migration and counter-human trafficking in the region by preparing papers, coordinating local consultants, developing briefs, drafting presentations and talking points as needed and requested by managementSupport the development and implementation of the resource mobilization strategy for migration in the Arab States Coordinate resource mobilization efforts with country offices, programme presences and other UN partners; Support the development of and strengthen strategic partnerships with potential and current bilateral partners, civil society organizations, researchers etc active in the area of gender and migrationPromote gender mainstreaming in the work of the UN Agencies members of the working group on international migration in the Arab States region, including the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration Participate and contribute to regular meetings of the Interagency Working Group on International Migration in the Arab States, offering technical inputs from a gender perspective; Review and share inputs on papers and knowledge products related to migration in the region; Participate in conferences and events as requested and as organized by the Interagency Working Group, including those pertaining to the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration; Provide capacity building for gender responsive implementation of the GCM in Arab States region is provided; timely follow-up on the establishment of the GCM Network for the region is conducted and it takes into account the gendered nature of migration Conduct research and analysis to inform initiatives as promoted by the Interagency working group; Identify and leverage interagency synergies in terms or programmatic potential, research gaps and common interestsDevelop and share technical inputs for knowledge products and convene policy dialogues on gender and migration in the Arab States region Develop knowledge products and conduct analysis as instructed by supervisor, and develop a knowledge management platform for gender and migration in the Arab States; Support the organization, coordination and execution of three policy dialogues on socio-economic integration of migrant women in Tunisia, Morocco and LibyaSupport programme development and implementation in the area of gender-responsive governance Prepare project proposals, project budgets and annual work plans in the area of gender-responsive governance, with a focus on gender statistics; Foster partnership building and resource mobilization efforts in the area of gender-responsive governance; Draft donor reports and supervise the preparation of financial reports; Monitor the successful implementation of activitiesContribute to programme implementation in the GCC Support accessibility of gender statistics (including governments, civil society, academia and the private sector) and analysis of data to inform research, advocacy, policies and programmes, and to promote accountabilityOther duties as assigned by supervisorDeliverablesTimelinesDetailed workplan on delivering the tasks foreseen in the TOR (description of responsibilities and deliverables section) is developed, submitted and agreed with the supervisor
