Job Description


Supervises technicians as they perform electrical work involving the installation, operation, maintenance, repair and testing of electrical power generation and distribution systems to include facilities and related systems, transformers, generators, switchgear, metering and control systems, equipment, machinery and power appliances to within acceptable national (NEC) and local codes, safety rules and electrical standards Ensures personnel exhibit superior workmanship and focus on a quality end product Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and with a focus upon a quality Will have direct oversight of Generator Shop personnel Verifies actual hours worked by personnel to reduce manpower expenditure Ensures personnel complete all tasks in accordance with the local Environmental, Safety and Health directives Provides leadership and mentors junior personnel to develop appropriate skillsets Addresses customer concerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner Uses Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to correctly input data related to maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance inspections, and urgentemergency customer requests Ensures personnel correctly capture data on maintenance work order requests and preventative maintenance inspection forms for upload into Maximo


1 Coordinates the installation, maintenance and repair of spot generators, standby generators, portable generators, transformers, switchgear and panels

2 Establishes a proactive maintenance program per manufacturers recommendations, NEC and Tech Exhibit specifications

3 Analyzes equipment data and trends; along with team members input, formulates the maintenance program procedures

4 Works to eliminate unscheduled outages

5 Leads job and safety analysis meeting with team members on potential hazards and near-miss incidents

6 Prepares estimates of time, labor and material requirements for various projects

7 Works with technicians as they test circuits, power grids, transformers, switchgear and controls demonstrating the proper use of meters, mediumhigh-voltage testers, meggers and similar testing equipment to measure the integrity of electrical components and detect faults, hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation and or replacement

8 Implements and monitors lock-out and tag-out procedures

9 Responds to 24-hour emergency call outs if required

10 Performs other duties as assigned


1 A basic set of hand and power tools used on the job

2 Test sets and other generatorpower plant maintenance related toolsequipment

3 Breakers, transformers, RTS or Protest relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, automatic transfer switching, performing start-up on switchgear up through 11kV class, VFD (variable frequency drives)

4 Repair parts used on various types and sizes of generators


Duties will involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures up to 130F degrees in the summer months Potential exposure to chemical or biological agents could exist Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices Normal work week is 48 hours, but must be able to work overtime or shift as required

EducationCertifications One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required

Certified & licensed in field of electro-mechanical, power plant, industrial or electrical required Technical school, military training preferred
Must possess a drivers license from country of origin for the purpose of obtaining a Military or Kuwait drivers license
Must be able to obtain Common Access Card (CAC)


1 Six (6) years of experience in power generation equipment maintenance


1 Deep understanding of a variety of diesel generator engine models

2 Strong understanding of power generation, engine maintenance and minor overhauls

3 Understanding of manufacturers technical publications and wiring diagrams, technique of operating and maintaining internal combustion engines and use of multipurpose test equipment

4 Principles of operating 2000kVA and smaller diesel engines to include Caterpillar, Cummins, Mitsubishi and FG Wilson

5 Knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI and the NEC

6 Possess proficient English oral and written communications skills

7 Collaborative work style, fostering cooperation, and teamwork

8 Exercise discretion and good sound judgment

9 Basic computer skills


Will have direct oversight of Generator Shop personnel
