Job Description
KPMGs Department of Professional Practice supports KPMG Audit professionals in the areas of accounting, auditing and regulatory matters We satisfy this mission by providing the following services
Consult with and advise our professionals on rules, regulations and policies that guide the delivery of our Audit products
Deliver guidance and training on current accounting, auditing and reporting matters
Identify audit quality issues, implement remedial actions and monitor their effectiveness
Work with standard setters and regulators as they develop new rules and regulations for our profession
Responsibilities
DPPs general responsibilities are to establish the firms position on technical accounting and auditing issues and to support the quality and effectiveness of professional service of the audit practice
Keep abreast of regulatory requirements Communicate new and revised standards and guidance on both accounting and auditing matters to KPMG professionals on a timely basis The special focus of the role will be on financial services and insurance
Provide technical guidance and support to audit engagement teams especially in the financial service and insurance space
Develop technical materials and training to support KPMG professionals
Identify audit quality issues, implement remedial actions and monitor their effectiveness
Provide advice and develop KPMG LG positions on technical questions regarding, IFRS, auditing, and audit methodology especially in the financial service and insurance space
Work closely with Learning and Development Department on delivery of training to KPMG professionals
Qualifications and skills
Bachelors or higher degree in accounting, auditing or an appropriate field from an accredited university
Qualified accountant (CPA or equivalent) with at least ten years audit experience with a major firm
Strong knowledge in International Auditing Standards, and Financial Reporting Standards andor International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)Deep experience in financial services and the insurance space
Self-starter with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
Team player, with the ability to multi-task, as well as flexible and can work under pressure
Socially confident with good diplomacy and organization skills
